I have 8 Hammond 842 transformers that came from a McCurdy broadcast console.
Hammond's website says this...
Application: ** P.P. Plates to Line
Primary: 5K/20K (6K/24K)
Secondary: 125/500 (150/600)
Can anyone tell me what a trafo with these specs might be used for?
To say I'm a novice in my understanding of electronics would be an understatement, but I have a Sound Workshop 1280B with unbalanced direct outs, and I thought maybe these could be of use in balancing the outputs, and adding some color. Or, maybe they have different uses? I have an old Altec mixer that I could add direct outs to?
Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Stephen

Thanks Jim! So would these likely hold their own against the little Beyer trafos in a 1280B? Or another application? I have a bunch of McCurdy mic pre's that also use the little Beyer transformers, and a bunch of channels from a Sound Workshop Series 30. Any uses with these?
Much appreciated!

they are stepdown output transformers likely from tube circuit--to line level, but may work well reversed as a mic input step-up, or as a step-down input to a passive eq with a make-up gain stage
