Mic Capsule Damage

Post by mechanicalmastering » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:41 pm

I was removing the plastic HF dampening from an Oktava MKL2500 and just barely dented, (just barely!), the capsule's outer clear, thin-plastic cover with a small flathead screwdriver, should I be concerned about it? Should I consider replacing it? Where could I even find one!?!

Plastic with shiny stuff on one face or the other would be the diaphragm. Maybe, maybe not damaged seriously. A dent will change the sound, perhaps only very slightly.

Hi,

What does the mic sound like now?
Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.
