Chicago Amp Repair Shop

Post by lankypainter » Thu Sep 13, 2012 1:22 pm

Hey everybody.

I need to get my Fender Stage 100 amp fixed and can't seem to find a decent place in Madison, WI, as I taken it to the seemingly most reputable shop around and they've repeatedly done nothing. So I was wondering what your recommendations for shops that have a solid reputation in Chicago, which is the next closest place. Milwaukee works too if you have had good experiences with any particular shops there.

Thanks!

Speciman Audio is pretty reputable and have great turnaround usually. Plus, if you're delivering it yourself, they do some interesting speaker design.

in chicago I always like http://www.modsbydarrel.com/

Or you could learn a bit yourself... the main thing that goes wrong with almost every fender Ive seen is a cap goes bad somewhere. For $50 you could recap the whole ting with much better caps and learn a little something along the way.

whats it not doing?

Thanks.

Same issue. I printed off this thread for proof/suggestions, took it back, they said they couldn't find anything and that they cleaned it up and it should work, it seemed to work for a while, but it started again. http://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopi ... highlight=
