Can you tell this was recorded to cassette?

I apologize in advance if this is seen as promoting a song, but this is the first one I have done on my Tascam 424MKIII. I only recorded the guitar on the 424 and then put it over on to my computer, but I fear that I lost the "analog" sound during it. There is barely any hiss, which is somewhat what I was going for. I do like how the bass sounds deeper than usual, which may be attributed to that. I tried to hit the red during recording, so if anyone has any other tips, please let me know!

it's not hard to overdub tape hiss, if that's what you want...

You'll also get more tape hiss if you don't hit the red when you're tracking.

Hiss sucks. Don't ever "try" for hiss.

The cello has definition and clarity. The guitar does not.

Hiss sucks, mud sucks. Go for beauty.

I have to say, if this were my mix I'd want to try to clean up that guitar also, not make it sound more "analog". Also, if you cut some of the low mids (somewhere around 250hz maybe?) to reduce boominess and maybe shelf the highs up a skosh you might get a little more hiss in the bargain.

The track on the side called "Fleeting Empires" has a guitar sound much more to my tastes, for what it's worth.

Why you want hiss I can't really relate to. In the days when it was pretty much impossible to not have hiss nobody liked it, and I remember those days. When I heard my first CD I fell in love instantly.

i would try a different mic on the acoustic guitar and perhaps a different position...sounds good though. you can get alot out of a cassette four track I think.
