Radioshack PZM Battery
Radioshack PZM Battery
I've borrowed a friends PZM, I'm wondering is the extra voltage thing worth doing on a stock mic? I have a 12V garage door opener battery that I can wodge in there with some foil or a little spring. Is it worth it, and would the battery have enough current to last a session?

Yes and yes.
I used to rig a 9v to those, the leads from a standard 9v stomp box clip onto the ends of a dummy battery inserted, with a little hole cut in the plastic for the lead to come out, and a rubber band holding the 9v to the box. Looked mickey mouse, but did the DIY trick. Easy mod that makes a noticeable difference.

Is there a model number somewhere on these? I was reading http://www.uneeda-audio.com/pzm/ and I can't find any numbers on this one.

If it's the same as the ones I have you can snip the 1/4" audio ends and make them balanced. At least that's what I was told... I did it, then I modded the PZM so much it wouldn't work!
