Tascam M-520 Mixer replacement VU lamps??

Post by jon-519 » Sun Jun 16, 2013 1:56 pm

When I google'd lots of threads from past years came up but unfortunately all of the links to buy replacements were old/inactive or out of stock.

Does anyone know where I can get replacements?? The ones that just snap in. I haven't opened it up but I read online that these were fuses that just go in without soldering.

I just got this board the other day and I wish 4 of the lamps weren't out!!

Call Jim Finch at Tascam Montebello, CA at ext. 750. He will tell you what bulbs they used and whether they stock them there.

Alternativly you can replace them with white LED's if you add a diode and a resistor in series like a 1N4002 and 1k ohms.

Thanks maybe I will give him a call if all else fails.

First though, I also have a Teac 5 mixer. Any idea if this has the same type of lamps? I could probably take them out to use in the M-520 if they are the same type. I'd rather not take it apart unless I know for sure however.

Unless you like replacing bulbs, I would go with the LED option. That needs to be done only once. Bulbs need to be replaced periodically.

I have no idea about the bulbs but I owned an m520 about 5 years ago. Nice little console for short money. I would buy another if it came along.

Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate it.

I have considered the LED idea but I'm low on cash right now so I probably couldn't afford the get it done by a tech just yet.

If more went out I would probably get it done. I don't think I'd be able to do it myself without proper instructions.
