Avid/Digidesign repair in LA/SFV?

Post by agershon » Mon Sep 23, 2013 2:05 pm

I have a 192 card that needs repair. Can someone recommend a reasonable repair shop or person ... ideally in the Valley?

BTW I've been in contact with this guy:http://www.studio-techservices.com/E%3DMB2/E%3DMB2.html but his communication is too sporadic, so I'm looking elsewhere.

Thanks!!

You can try here: http://www.advancedmusical.com/
Not far south from SFV, in West LA.

Yep thanks. I know they're the only Avid approved repair shop ... kinda crazy that there's only ONE here in LA.

I might end up shipping my card to them rather than head over the hill. And folks don't make fun unless you understand the West Side. We're still undergoing The Rampture out here http://www.metro.net/projects/I-405/.

I certainly understand why you'd ship the card to the Westside. People living in other places cannot fathom how difficult freeway driving can be here in LA. Traffic is bad even on weekends.

We should be grateful to have ONE authorized AVID repair location available in LA. In a disposable society, fixing broken things is an anomaly these days.

Thanks for understanding.

I called them and they guesstimated it would be $200-$300 to fix it. I can get another one on CraigsList for about $250. Might not even be worth trying to fix.

Probably not, but you run the risk of the used replacement possibly having the same problem. Depends on what it's worth to you.

Well, this time I'll make damn sure the card works.
