Looking for schematics and onfor on Drewsonics Sherloc

Post by supafuzz » Sun Nov 24, 2013 10:34 am

Looking for schematics and info for Drewsonics Sherloc.
Got in touch with Drew first but he no longer had this info.

I had one built and now I don't remember if it ever worked or not.

Could it be the same schematics as the original level loc?

Also wondering which power supply belongs to it. [got a box full of power supplies]

would love to get this going.

Been going on a crusade to get all the non-working gear @ super 70 repaired
and have slowly been getting it done. My Joemeek sc2 v1.07 has been the biggest mystery but we're still trying to figure that beast out. Recapping the soundcraft and the updated channels sound more hifi but still has that vintage goodness. Got a new Acopian power supply for the soundcraft that should bring down the noise floor and then the star grounding thing.

thanks...

Supafuzz,

Here is the manual and schematic for the original level loc:

I have a Drewsonics unit I bought off of ebay years ago... I think it's circuit is identical but maybe check in with forum moderator Joel Hamilton. He seems to know quite a bit about them.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Mark,
I found the same manual/schematics last week, what I was looking for is any of the info that came with the Sherlock.
Got mine up and running but it sounds like a wave machine, there is so much hiss noise coming off the unit.
I was wondering where there are any changes/deviations from the original.
Otherwise I'm just going to strip this out save the box and the trannys for something else..

I've probably got the orig paperwork around here somewhere. I'll have a look sometime soon...but I'm trying to get things in order to travel for the pending holiday as well.

I recall that there was no actual schematic in any of it.

Power supply was unregulated 9VDC...I could check make/manufacturer of mine, also. I also recall that one of the recommended mods was to add a large cap between the rails of that supply, to knock down some of the hum.

Ok.

Found 'em.

Not sure what to do with them, though. I may need to sort out some OCR stuff. I'm not the most graphically literate. Ideally I'll get the text from it and embed it into this thread, where it'll be preserved for posterity.

There are no schematics, just a few sketches for the flying-wire hookup.

This issue came up in 2009 or so, and someone scanned the booklet and posted it to sendspace...which has long since evaporated.

It might help your googling to recall that the company was "Drewtronics", not "-sonics."

For white noise, first doublecheck that all of the transistors and diodes are in the right way around. Does it compress at all, even with the noise?
