MCI JH110 question

Post by metodd1 » Mon Jan 06, 2014 2:50 pm

Have a question about an MCI JH 110 1" 8 track.
It's a 110C. Heads in good shape, relatively low hours.

Problem #1 - Brakes don't work. Card swap did not fix it.
Problem #2 - intermittent playback on track 2

Question -- how potentially serious are these issues, and what do you think a system with these problems but in otherwise good condition is worth?

Thank you

Have you tried a card swap for the Track 2 playback issue?

it seems like a lot of the intermittent problems with these machines are from bad connections with either the red IC sockets or the molex connectors. on top of that, some of the capacitors might be getting old enough to start causing problems. replacing IC sockets and capacitors is sort of tedious but not so bad. I think dealing with the molex connectors could be a much harder job.

if you're looking to sell it, I'd try contacting Mara Machines. they buy, refurbish, and re-sell all sorts of MCI machines.
