Oops -- glad we caught that one, too.

Kindly download again. If you're getting tired of this i can probably track someone down locally with a 64bit mac... :-)

I have absolutely no problem doing this if it's giving you information you can use. Here's the newest download's one:

What version of OS X are you using?

Thanks,

Hey! I just overhauled the thing and added a bunch of new features. Version 2.0 can now be downloaded.

* ABCDEF....X tests (more than two files)
* Blind shootouts! It shuffles the files and you pick your favorite... so you can choose which mic you truly like best, etc.
* looping
* playing ranges
* gain/offset adjustment
* lots of little UI improvements

Please check it out and let me know if you find any bugs. Thanks!

I wanted to implement auto gain adjustment and maybe even auto-offset detection, but unfortunately the media library i'm using to play the files gives no access to the underlying data... bummer.

Finally got it working on my end thanks to Casey and the program is a big help. After acquiring Waves Kramer Master Tape I'm using the new plugin to remaster my most recent recordings for an EP and the program allows me to compare the old masters to the new ones in an unbiased way.

Thanks Casey, great work and I'm looking forward to your updates.

Hey all -- 2.1 just released and available for download.

Besides a couple minor UI fixes (they are absolutely neverending), it adds the ability to switch from file to file without seeking back to the start. The "Hold pos." button keeps the playing position when switching files, when it is enabled (which it is by default).

Now that I think about it, i should have named it something more intelligible. Like "play from start" or something. I just didn't have much screen space. :-)

Hey, for those following the Mac subthread here -- turns out that Java 8 supports OS X 10.8 and above. You might get away with 10.7.3? (let me know if you do!)

2.2 is now out... adds drag-and-drop support: drag a file (or group of files) to the program for easy setup of your tests. If you drag a single file to a particular row, it will replace that file. Otherwise it will insert them.

Version 2.3 just released!

- now you can save/load sets of files/gains/offsets (with absolute or relative paths, so you can save a fileset along with the audio files in the same directory and share your tests with others)
- set the play position with its own slider, optionally set the start/end slider positions with buttons
- a bunch of UI improvements (timer showing file position, copy text from the results pane, etc.)

Let me know if you find any bugs. I think it's pretty much "feature-complete" at this point, so I don't foresee much more work happening on it unless folks think of something clever.

(Unfortunately there is some jankyness in the media player: sometimes the loop breaks if you're moving the sliders around a lot while it plays, etc. Nothing to be done about that.)

Thanks!

2.32 adds support for drag/drop of *.abx files and opening *.abx files directly (once they are associated in the OS to "open with" the program.)

Version 2.35 released -- fixes a hang/lockup that some Mac OS X users were seeing. If you had that issue, give it another try. Thanks!

Version 2.36 released --

* in shootouts you can now optionally score each file 1-10 as you go
* auto-detect changes to audio files and prompt to refresh/ignore (except on Windows due to Java bug)
* keyboard shortcuts
* prompts to prevent accidental loss of test results
* lots of little UI improvements
