I've used female 1/4" TRS jacks on cables to solve various cabling problems over the years and I always hate them. There's almost always an alternative in a longer cable, or some other dual mono to single stereo something or other, but I don't always get around to it. Plugging a quarter inch cable into another just feels wrong and if you look at it wrong it goes all intermittent.

Micro USB connectors are an abomination. They have a working lifetime of maybe two dozen connect/disconnect cycles. Ignore the stated data sheet rating of 10,000 cycles for the contacts -- it's not the contacts that fail.Snarl 12/8 wrote:I can't believe no one's mentioned mini/micro USB yet.

Banana plugs, especially on the back of a power amp going to speakers. I've had my share of live show where the intermittent crackling sound of our drum machine into the left or right speaker required a mid-song dive behind the amp rig to slam the banana plug connectors with the heel of my hand.
