CM Labs Motor Mix and Pro Tools 9 is this possible?

Post by clean_and_humble » Mon Nov 10, 2014 6:23 am

I recently got a Motor Mix for free. It's in working order the morons at my job thought the demo mode was malfunction so they tossed it and I grabbed it. I was hoping I could use it with my Pro Tools 9 on my macbook set up. I use a NI Komplete audio6 interface and I connected the motor mix via midi but no control connection was made. I emailed the cm labs guy and looked on their site for a driver but with pro tools they have a link for a driver that talks about an OMS folder I am assuming that is an older system. There are two links for digi002 but I have the digi003 system. Is there anyone who knows if the motor mix will work with pro tools 9?

Also there is this midimix program on the cm labs site that says you can control ableton with the motor mix that would be awesome but I do not think it is possible

Maybe it works, maybe not, I could not find anything on the Avid website.

Just plug it into a MIDI port, create a new device, and let it fly.

Cheers

Obviously I did try the plug and play method the result of that lead me to asking the question here. I did email the cm labs guy and here is what he replied I have yet to try it will report back when I do but here is what is supposed to work:

MotorMix should work fine with Protools9.

You can use either their MotorMix or HUI personality which is available from Digi as a download or is included with Protools.

Run MotorMix in Protools mode. The LCD display will show "Open a Protools session to begin.

Best regards,
Carl Malone

I'm pretty sure I used a motormix with pro-tools 9. There was one hanging around my studio last summer and I was doing a rare ITB mix. It's gone now so I can't confirm 100% but I'm pretty sure it was a Motormix.
I plugged it in and then selected it in the HUI settings. Worked just fine.

This may sound like a stupid question but where are the HUI settings ?
I see a HUImotor mix bundle in my digidesign folder in my HD but I am not sure what to do with it

Open a session,
go to the Setup menu,
select Peripherals,
select Midi Controllers in the menu at the top of the window,
under #1 select Type - HUI,
Received From - Predefined - Motormix,
Send To - Predefined - Motormix.
