I'm about 10 minutes in and they haven't gotten a shot any closer than any other, so who knows? They're using a lot of vintage gear, and the mikes look very long. Black and long. Nakamichis? That would be my semi-educated guess:

The Teac ME-120 is basically the same thing in silver. Those have slipped through my grasp on ebay more times than I care to recount... :>(

I don't know about the overheads, but I can't be the only one who gets freaked out seeing the drummers spare sticks rattling around on top of his bass drum at 4:43, right?

John is super nice and if he sees a Twitter message he answers it. The tom mics are Joshphson E22 BTW.
