Hi guys and girls,
I'm wondering who in the world is still making tape heads?
Or anyone who has some personal experience making them in the past.
My Studer a80 is setup to switch between 16/24 track.
Also have some MCI 2 tracks they could use some love.
Dreaming of 16 track headstack.
Google shows me John French.. Which is cool - just wondering who else can make something similar.
SF Bay Area would be a bonus. Even if it's computer reel to reel heads..
Thank you!
Chris

Otari presumably still makes or has a decent new-old stock available, still listed on their web-page:
http://www.otari.com/product/mag_head/head/index.html
But very hard to impossible to get a contact with them as far as I know. If anyone knows how to obtain brand new heads from them - let me know!
PS: to my knowlage Otari is also the last maker of R2R machine that is still in production (MX5050 BIII), they make it on order.

Or their (custom-) magnetic head production info here: http://www.otari.com/product/mag_head/head/index2.html
