I don't know if I have the vinyl under a basket somewhere at home or in-studio, but I did listen to two different YouTube versions on vinyl (apparently claiming to be "original mix"). I can't hear what you're talking about. Could you find it in one of the following links and point to a time marker? I'm counting "4" all the way through and can't discern anything funny, other than some sloppy/loose fills on the last solo rideout...

PS-- There is a little "flub" thing just before that last fill back into the groove, but it sounds more like he was coming in early, then corrected himself, rather than an edit... I suppose it could be. Is that what you mean? (about 2:18 in the second vid)

And this discussion reminds me of this bit from Todd Rundgren; I always loved this intro!

Woh! Definitely there!
I wonder how they "fixed" it on later copies (pre-digital). I've seen folks "fly" some pretty insane stuff in from DAT machine or samplers, and I got pretty good at taping bits of bad cuts back onto the reel, but this seems like something different.
Weird...

Yes, but then I wonder why such a glaringly obvious glitch was let out of the studio, and then the mastering room, in the first place?
I've never heard that before (thanks Chris)... As a record collector of some sort, I now have to wonder if the "crappy" version is worth more than the "fixed" version, somehow? Assuming both versions as relatively early pressings(?)...
I had heard about a Miles Davis LP on which the label had a mistake (a misprint; "Flamenco Sketches" and "All Blues" titles were switched). I was playing "All Blues" on the radio once, when a guy called and insisted (at length) that I announced the wrong track-- that the internationally recognized jazz standard "All Blues" was actually "Flamenco Sketches" and I had better make an announcement to correct/retract the initial one...
"People-- You can't live with them, and you can't get on the roof with a high powered rifle...", as my brother used to say.
