I often wished for just such a thing. Especially when I had separate control and live rooms. I never had an assistant, and HELL YES clients get nervous when you're doing your job. Your job is technical and alien to them, and exists to expose all their flaws and confirm their already rampant insecurities. There are exceptions of course, but a good engineer is as much therapist as anything else.

This is great! I might get on one... I can't find the video now, but I saw a dude on youtube who made his own mic robot AND... a remote control drum cloud! It moved up and down to allow more or less room sound.

Word. And I'm thinking more about the snare top mic, where it's super important to get the right placement, super tricky, and super crowded. Motorizing a mic stand is a great idea. This particular iteration doesn't seem to address the snare top mic problem. I feel I would want the ability to change the angle of the mic clip itself, plus extend and retract the boom, and raise and lower the boom. The x/y axis thing seems a little lazy, actually.

So maybe version 2.0 will be something I'll get excited about.

Hmmm... I wanna find an old bigger remote controlled tank toy and retro fit it with a mic stand. It might be goofy looking, but it would be cheaper!
