Damn things is expensive if you buy commercial ones. Me, a One-Spot is fine for, and the other issue is portability.
So I built two.
This is the Home Board:
I built it outta a wire shelf I bought at Menard's Home Supply, zip-tied the brackets underneath for stability, used releasable zip-ties for the pedals to make it easier and cheaper to change 'em out.
It's pretty sturdy, even using the wah, but while it might be OK for the occasional gig, I'd not want it on the road. As a way to organize the pedals and make 'em EZier to use in the bedio, however, well, it works!

This is the Away Board:
I bolted a enameled cooking grate, like for onna BBQ, to a piece of wood shelving. I use removable Zip ties to hold the pedals, tuck the wiring around 'em. The whole thing fits into a old Samsonite briefcase I had laying around (it's on the left) what I need not even take the board out of. I plug a wah (not shown) on the right, using a empty lead from the One-Spot, and placing the wah on top of the board to transport in the case.

Yeah, I haunt the E-bog, try and spend around US$30-35 each, seldom more.
And I have another board for my bass what I'm workin' on ...

I have made some homemade ones in the past but it's really hard to beat the Pedaltrain ones considering they come with the case and all..
I have one of those that's been in use for over 10 years and another that's been in use for 5. They recently came out with a bunch of new sizes.

Cool. Never heard of releasable zip ties before.

So many.
I'm working on my redoing my pedal boards...my at home board is velcroed to a huge IKEA cutting board and my travel board is a big one on one of those CNG case/board combo...I think I'm gonna make that one run on a lithium ion battery.
Pics when I finish.

I did the IKEA GORM shelf thing. (Old pic with out-of date pedal selection)

Yeah, I did some research between martoonies, and I like the Pedal Trains and the Ikea, but I really do not wanna use velcro.
It's like a thing, y'know?
I've a cuppla used pedals where the velcro tore off the bottom labels, or where the feet and even battery covers are missing because of it's use.
And then they get all cruddy with doghair and lint.
I prefer my pedals covered in likker and sawdust, thanx.

I just spend an hour setting the pedals up each time

I've done about that, got all excited in the middle of a performance, kicked on the booster but kicked the pedal across the floor, disconnecting everything into a tangle of wires ...
One of my best solos, ever.
