It's back, my old Neotek and New CTS in Greenpoint
It's back, my old Neotek and New CTS in Greenpoint
I'm really excited to have this thing back again.
We got it in the '90's from Word Music in Nashville.
I used it from '99-2008 then when we moved we put it in storage as
the place we moved to had a console in there.
Moving now to our 3rd location. I'm really glad to be re-united with this board.
Hope to have it hooked up and in position later this week.
Been updating the studio move as we go along.

Thanks for your interest
We have used this board as a center for our studio. When tracking we use primarily outboard preamps. We have the Private Q system for headphones but the aux sends work great for grouped stuff to be sent to the stereo channels on it.
For mixing It's a clean console which works for us with our collection of outboard gear. A lot of newer consoles don't have integrated patch bays. This one has a nice bay with ELCO connectors underneath the board. We can get all of our stuff in and out nicely. It also has 3 mute groups that were handy when we were working without the computer. In the time that we didn't have this console I really missed the EQ. I didn't use the EQ as the primary EQ but it's nice to have there when your mix is almost done. To be able to do those last minute tweaks on the board. The sound on the very top 20k is really smooth. It's a space saver and it doesn't run hot either.
Here's another gratuitous pic as we continue to set up the new place. We are waiting on a bunch of stuff. New chairs, a new rack, some more treatments.

We painted the stands for the big Quested monitors but the Neotek was custom ordered in white by the original owners (Word Music in Nashville). It's not paint but a 1/8" layer of plastic. Neotek offered some different finishes as an option back then. I toured their old plant in Chicago around the time the board was made. It was quite the operation.
The floors are finished Bamboo.

All of it looks great!
And may we assume the lava lamps are arriving soon?
Me, I have a couple little boards, Mackie and Alesis and Crate and such shite, but as I record I use outboard stuff in my bedio, a little Zoom R16 for drums at the dummer's crib or for live stuff.
What I am getting at is that, while I've been in various studios years ago - some very nice ones (Solid Sound, CRC, a couple others, like Idful) - I didn't then know enough to note the boards they used, much less ever use them myself.
And since that was the 80's and 90's, everything was carpeted and dead.
The bamboo is a good thing? Sure is pretty ...
