Hi, I'm new to this board. I write little acoustic guitar/vocal ditties at home. Sometimes I record two tracks simultaneously, other times I'll do overdubs. These recordings are mostly used to share online. Pretty lo-fi stuff.
For the last 9 years I have been using the same rig: Mac Book Pro (Fire wire) / Logic Express / Apogee Duet (old silver one with Fire wire)
I'm ready to totally overhaul this rig as the mac is obsolete and need suggestions on what the best options are in today's market. It's worth noting that I barely scratched the surface with logic express and might be totally fine with Garage band or something like that. Also, I no longer need the portability of a laptop and am open to buying a desktop, PC, Mac Mini, iMac, etc.
I would also like advice on whether it makes sense to get an adapter so that I can keep using my old Apogee Duet with a new computer.
Thanks for your advice.

Hi,
What is your budget?
That said, stay on macs. Perhaps get a newer Apogee interface as well, and just upgrade to Logic Pro.
This will keep everything as familiar as possible.

Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.
