Re: Fuzz Bass
I love that pedal on guitar and bass. It does so many sounds from spitty and glitchy to warm and smooth.Magnetic Services wrote: ↑Mon Apr 23, 2018 4:40 pmAnd if you're just looking for an excuse to buy a pedal, definitely check out Blackout Effectors' Fix'd Fuzz: http://www.blackouteffectors.com/?page_id=774 -- extremely versatile, with two different fuzz circuits and an overdrive. I have the original Fix'd Fuzz, not the deluxe, but the deluxe just seems to have more features.

I recall the manual describing the gnarlier fuzz circuit as "a robot farting" or something similar. Pretty accurate.
Re: Fuzz Bass
I use a malekko diabolik pedal in my live rig. Has a clean/fuzz mix to keep the low end.

Re: Fuzz Bass
i sometimes do an aux send to a sansamp classic for distortion/grit.
or DI to UA solo 610 and take the "thru" to an amp with fuzz/distortion pedal to blend to taste.
kinda interested in the EBS valve drive pedal but big $$$ - sigur ros uses em for both bass and guitar.

Re: Fuzz Bass
There's also the Os Mutantes thing, where you fuzz each string separately before adding them together (or nowadays, for recording, you could just keep them separate to their own tracks). This avoids the intermodulation distortion that makes fuzz sound muddy. To do that, you need a separate pickup for each string.
Re: Fuzz Bass
What, you can't play one string per track?
I'm actually kinda thinking of Corgan doing that with an ebow on "Drown" from the Singles soundtrack.
