I believe the Mojave MA-200 is supposed to be U67-based. sorry - couldn't tell you the difference, but the MA-200 is a great mic and they go for pretty cheap. MA-300 is the multi-pattern version of it.

My review of the Advanced Audio CM67se (and CM251) is in the new issue, or you can read it https://tapeop.com/reviews/gear/125/cm2 ... crophones/ online.

You really put those through their paces, which makes sense because everyone who owns the actual Neumann 67 talks about using it on everything successfully at one point or another.

Kinda want one now. But then I dig the Mojave thing too. And the CMV563 thing is just a little more saving. Dang gear lust!

Yeah, the guys at AA were very generous with letting me keep the mics for a while. I wish I didn't have to send them off. I'll probably get a CM67se by year's end. I have a 563, and I need to use it more. I used it a TON for a while, then I got on kicks with different mics, like ya do.

Thanks for reading the piece.

I'd rather have three 365's than a .357.

I'm a 635a fan myself.

Is the PL9 the same mic different color like EV did a lot back in the day?

Ooops. I have a PL9 also.

But there is a version of the 635a in the PL line (PL5? I disremember), and I also have that. It's a dark grey vs. the 635's light grey.

When I find it, I'l'l post pics.

EDIT:
"So, at the end of the day, the PL20 is the same as the RE20, the PL11 is the same as the RE11 and the PL5 is the same as the 635A. The only real difference is color and marketing. Some people will claim that they can hear a difference, but that is due to factors other than design and components (age, condition, etc.)"

I've got one of the polished EV664's and its pretty cool too. I've used it on guitar amps and also as a "crotch mic" (over the kick, pointing at the drummers - ok, actually my own - crotch) on drum kit. sounds nothing like a U67 though. how did we get here?
