Laurel or Yanni, is my hearing severely compromised?

Are my ears no longer trustworthy for balancing frequencies...I only hear Laurel unless I lower the formant content of the recording????

i hear both. yanny is higher, laurel lower pitched. i have fantastic hearing though (was just at an audiologist). i used IEM and earplugs and don't crank amps. i also don't play with guitarists :) that's saved me more than just my hearing :)

I hear both, even from my iPhone speaker.

I hear both simultaneously. I def. hear "laurel" more clearly, but "yanni" is there for sure.

I was wondering when this would pop up on the TOMB. I tried high and low-passing it -- didn't seem to correlate to when I'd hear which word. I'm super fascinated but I can't stand when things go annoyingly viral like this. Maybe I'll revisit it in a week 8)

I don't think you should be worried about it. 1/2 the people that listen only hear one or the other, and I'm assuming that most of those people don't live with full stacks and things like that like some of us (me haha) do.

I listened to this the other day and found it hilarious - I instantly heard yanni in the kind of helium voice, had no idea where the laurel part was meant to be coming from, then when my friend did an impression of the low laurel voice I flipped onto it, burst out laughing, managed to switch a couple of times in my head, then got totally stuck an laurel and couldn't get off it like yanni had been a dream. I got the distinct impression this is a brain trick like a "magic eye" picture (can't do...) and has nothing to do with extremes of hearing range - neither voice is very high or low, it's just tonal like a man vs a little boy. It's really funny when you suddenly hear what your friend heard straight away!

I hear, "yahnull", sometimes, "lorny".

But if I turn it up as loud as my Marshall, I hear god.

Or at least, George Burns combined with Alanis Morisette.
