Aiight, let's talk broken shite, and other outstanding work

Broken gear is a never ending moving target. In the last week:

Rebuilt Lexicon PCM60 (all new caps, new ram corrected the freaking out it was doing)
Fixed Orange Tiny Terror( loose internal connector, that made it seem like it had a bad tube)
Got Wurly 200 back up and running (speakers)

All ready for this weeks issues....

What do you like that thing on?

I mostly use it on loud amps; it's a nicely un-hyped, slightly un-dimensional, kinda thick sound that's particularly useful on higher-gain amps, and where the amp seems a little too bright for the part. It's good for a close dynamic mic when using a room mic where you want the latter track a little more detailed.

I also use it on something dynamic (no phantom power, of course) and omni for room.

It is quite nice when used against or with a racked PM1000, which is a bit faster and brighter.

On vocals, it has a similar use of being thick and not bright - what I think of as "vintage w/transformer". Put a ribbon and a 1176-type onnit and holler.

As far as only having the one knob, I often use it into a 20db pad.

For me, electronics on the input chain are about EQ, y'know?

Hmmm. Interesting. I should add it to my repair pile and start giving it a better workout.
