Hey yall,
Bought a Focusrite ISA one to hook up to my 244. Working on trying to set it up but not completely sure yet. Anybody know? I just wanna buy the right cables and things.

Re: Pre amp to 4 track
if the ISA is 1/4" out you need an XLR to TS Cable. If it's TRS out you can use a TRS or TS cable.
The 4 track ins will be unbalanced, line level and as long as your gain staging is ok you'll be fine.
I run external pres into a 488 all the time. It's never an issue.

Ah thanks,
The main output seems to be XLR so great. And I would just connect that to one of the mic line inputs?

Yes.
In operation, you wanna keep the 4-tracks's pre set to use as little gain as possible, I would think.
Unless you can by-pass it completely, ex., use an insert. If the mic and line inputs are separate, try the line, first.
I don't know the "244" ..
Also, try using the ISA's 30db gain setting (left-most top-row button) first; the 60 is probably too hot.
In fact, an attenuator or just a pad in between the ISA and the 4-track might be helpful ...

I also don’t know the 244. The 488 has two stereo line ins that can be assigned to any of the busses. It bypasses as much circuitry as possible an sounds pretty great. Anything you can do to keep the 244 circuit use to a minimum will only help.
