been thinking about using cinder blocks as speaker stands - I have an adjusting height chair so I think i can get away with doing this

Has anyone tried this or foresee any issues?

I built my own stands as well with the pvc pipe filled with sand on wooden bases, mo pads on the top.

followed this guys design -

I did this. It was easy and fun. Not sure if it's the additional bass trapping, or cloud over the mix position I added last week, or the stands but things are sounding clearer in my control room.

I know for a fact that the stands made things look nicer in my control room. Thanks for the help guys!

Sound Anchor. Steel filled with Expanding concrete. Make a difference. Tall custom one will not be cheap.

Sand loading effective, as others have said.

As mentioned height is a matter of physical integration and phase coherence. Some speakers will be very tweekie wirh regards to this others not much at all.

"phase corrected" 2 ways with deep slopes and high order crossovers will be the most tolerant to placement options.
1st order shallow slope crossovers 3 or more way crossovers will be very sensitive to height and angle.
