One of my Extreme Isolation headphones had a side die this past month and these are nearly $200 a set to replace now so I am wondering about trying to resuscitate.
... are these types of things usually repairable?
I suspect a broken connection in the cable/connection to the headphone is more likely the problem than a blown driver... but it's some pretty small cable type action going in so I am doubtful that it's repairable.
You guys ever successfully fix stuff like this?

the new rules : there are no rules
Re: the old "only getting one side" headphone dilemna
This is why I hate headphones without detachable cables. /endrant
I would assume the jack itself or the cord is the problem. Honestly I would just clip it off at the end and solder a new 1/4” on there, and use a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter when you need that. I have a nice set of Ultrasone headphones I’ve had to repair exactly like this.

I've had some luck replacing jacks on headphone cables. I also ran into a brick wall with a pair of Beyer DT770s someone gave me. They use magnet wire in their cables, and I just couldn't make a good solder joint with it.

I have nothing to add except that headphones (and headphone extensions and headphone mixes) are the bane of my existence. Mic stands are a close second followed by cables of all kinds.

The magnet wire type can be worked with after light sanding/etc to remove the enameling.
