I grind community coffee and do the French press thing. Was doing two carafes a day up until recently, when I quit smoking. Now down to half a carafe (~ 12 ozs) and don't always finish it. Think the most amazing part is that I don't start drinking it until about an hour and a half after I wake up.
I find that this combo has left me with more focus and energy.

i also do half a carafe of french press and grind it myself. maybe i'm just drinking the strong stuff but 10+ cups would drive me mad!

Beers and coffee over here. My session work of late has been more datime than nighttime so it's usually coffee with a beer at the end of a long day. Weed makes me feel paranoid and crazy so I've avoided it since my early 20's.
As far as coffee goes, I grind my own and have about 4-5 cups over the course of a morning. If it's a writing day there's usually more.
Sometime I get a little jittery but that usuly has more to do with forgetting to eat lunch.

FOLGERS? how dare you sir!

actually ms mse and i both drink a ton of coffee, we are budget-minded and usually just get the big tub of either french or italian roast from whole foods. definitely far from the greatest but not bad, and i brew it nice and strong.

i really only have like 3-4 cups. and sometimes in the afternoon i'll still want to be drinking coffee but don't want more caffeine, so i'll brew a french press of decaf. (way) too much caffeine is actually counterproductive, i think.

Hmmm. I kinda can't not.

Which is to say I don't, unless I'm goin' the other way.

It just seems somehow that, by tradition?, substance and music go together ...

i'm guessing you're not familiar with frank zappa then. he was as out there as it gets and needed no substance. he was also insanely talented and again needed nothing. substance/music going together is a myth

yeah. i was stone cold sober for most every show i ever played. occasionally a little weed way back in the day but for the most part, just water and maybe the ubiquitous coffee.

and actually, the coffee was usually a mistake once the adrenaline kicked in.

Look, I'm about as reg'lar a Zombie Woof as anyone ever loved P-I-N-K-Y, $69.95 was, with my zircon-encrusted tweezers, wrist watch and Sears poncho, OK?

Zappa was jittery on life, all Armenian and shite as he was and if Flo & Eddied did it different, well, it wasn't in front of him but he understood the culture, even as he disapproved of some of it. Now, please explain the attraction of Cynthia Plastercaster (GTO's) and Steve fucking Vai.

"substance/music going together is a myth" is mere wishfulness, droog, I'm afeared. And if the better among us conduct their lives believing the opposite myth, well, at least they don't look like Keef, or die like Layne Staley.

Now, where the hell's the olives?

The first time I tried it I did not dig it, so sour and..kinda made me think of things like dirty sock rinsewater.
But a couple weeks ago the ac was down, and I was looking for a different buzz other than coffee..and so I tried it again. This particular brand/style goes down smooth.
Weird that kombu means seaweed, cha means tea, originally I was thinking it was some kind of seaweed or kelp tea. but "fermented green tea" in Japanese doesn't sound near as sexy apparently.

Could be my imagination, but I could swear my intestinal fauna is thriving right now.
