Soundcraft 200BVE - Remove VCA Extender Cards?

Post by g3nology » Mon Dec 24, 2018 2:43 pm

Quick question:

Can I remove the VCA extender cards thus leaving the channel strips disconnected from the VCA path all together without affecting the operation of the desk (basically using it like a standard B vs BVE)? Also, I reckon that would reduce current draw and overall noise floor, no? I find all the extra BVE wiring/looms unnecessary and messy and would like to remove them.

I’m assuming if I disconnect all the cconnectors and then remove the extender cards (including the ‘master’ extender) and then desolder the connectors connected to the VE/VCA sliders I’m good to go, right? It doesn’t appear any standard console functions are connected/affiliated with any of these boards/connectors.

If I disconnect and remove all this crap is their any additional considerations I need to be aware of? Like will I be in danger of shorting anything out? Or?
