Gift card burning a hole in my pocket.

Post by The Scum » Thu Jan 02, 2020 1:54 pm

So the holidays netted me a $50 Guitar Center gift card...but I'm at a loss as to how to spend it.

My basic supplies needs are all pretty well covered, and I wouldn't worry about adding a few bucks myself if it got me something neat.

Any great ideas?

A Guitar Center guitar lesson might be amusing for an hour.

I'd look through their used shit. Or buy a bass drum head.

I would keep my eye out for a cool Daily Pick.
https://www.guitarcenter.com/Daily-Pick.gc

Today they have 2 Fender 18.6' instrument cables for $29.99. That's pretty nice if you need some cables or you could hang tight for a pedal or microphone to come up, which they often do.

Part of that new year’s weight loss plan. I recommend the lettuce wraps for maximum effect.

As much as I could use some black pepper beef (and my local PF Chang's is right next to 2nd & Charles), I think I'll keep my eyes on the daily pick. I watch the MF daily deal when I remember, but hadn't seen it's GC cousin.

And VVV is probably right - I think I want a Small Stone...

Gift cards are sometimes for a small amount. Normally you can't buy a guitar or an amplifier with it. In such cases I prefer to go into merch to get some T-shirts with logos or other clothes.

This made me think of that time years ago I bought this homemade podium that came out of a biker bar--painted black with a big glittery "J" on the front. And affixed to the bottom interior of the podium were 3 guitar pedals--one of which was a vintage, and utterly filthy, Small Stone pedal. Not rolled in dog doo, but it did take quite some time to clean the cigarette smoke, spilled beer, and hippie skull fragments off of it.

Thank you, Zombie Thread, for reminding me that I've still got this gift card.

A pandemic happened in there, and kinda rearranged priorities. I just checked, and it's miraculously still worth the original value!

No $50 Small Stone, but there's a $50 Small Clone...
