I love a lot of Boston-recorded/related stuff. Kolderie and Agnello did Dino,Jr. and stuff there, I think Albini did the Pixies there and they likely did other stuff, Frank Black stuff, certainly Treat Her Right and Morphine recorded there, there was a band called Thrashing Doves from there, the 360's, Thalia Zedek, Come, ... a lot of stuff on Matador seemed to be from there.

And there was Extreme ...

and played the bass parts: one Sandman slide, and one Fernandes MM style bass.
Explain. Please.
"Sandman slide" is two-string bass (I use a bad Japanese Rick copy) played with a slide, like Mark Sandman in the band, Morphine. I played through a Soul Food to my Ampeg BA108.
I have a confession. I was working on my friend's solo album months ago as his engineer/multi-instrumentalist. He wanted a horn section for a couple things. I did two alto sax parts in harmony for both, cause I'm actually solid on that. For one I was able to barely land a trumpet part with like two notes after 3-4 takes to try and get the intonation together. For one song it was impossible. So I came up with the idea to do a fuzz bass with a slide on the bottom of the horn harmonies. Kind of a gritty trombone, or bari sax vibe.

I seriously thought I was really clever to have thought of playing bass with a slide. Like a huge band I was familiar with hadn't already invented it! Okay I'm going to bed now.

Hahaha! It's still a good idea, even you didn't invent it.

How could I forgot MOB? They're re-emergence is as great (albeit not as commercially successful?) as Dino,Jr.'s.

And Consonant is also awesome.

Side story: when I was in college, I would routinely blow away friend by putting "...Revolver" on the turntable.

Setting up my new Ibanez Jem JR, and playing my white Strat with Eric Clapton electronics. I always go back to it. My desert island guitar.

The Jem JR is fantastic, but not set up from the factory, so I am taking the strings out, then re setting it up from scratch. As it came, the 6th string buzzes until the 10th fret. LOL. And the string gauge is a little too large for this type of guitar. It is meant to scream. Solos. Fly above the fray.
Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.

The other best record to come out of Boston is obviously the Cars first one.

The first Cars record is one of the greatest records EVER.

But... they came out of Boston, the record however came out of London.

Today I'm going to go 70s up my drums. Putting Hydraulic heads on, putting up gobos on the sides, opening up the diffusor so the absorption is exposed. I'm tracking drum for a board member who sited 70s and 461 Ocean Blvd specifically for sounds.

So far, yes. Turns out the song referenced has Al Jackson Jr on it, so I had to go with 5" Ludwig metal snare with a wallet on the head.
