Re "live" rigs I've been using the hell outta mine (Zoom R16 with Samson power monitors, a 4-way Rolls headphone amp, cans and cords and stands) - it's set up in my living room for all the acoustic covidia stuff.

I mix with olive juice.

After years of hauling around a digi002/adat expansion and laptop for live gigs I bought a dedicated stand alone multitrack recorder by Cymatic audio. It does 16 channels at once and so far (knock on wood) has been bulletproof. Its paid for itself a few times over with comedy records. It’s such a relief not to live in fear of pro tools freezes or computer crashes on a live gig.

As an added bonus it’s small and light.

Just went through 2 Tonelux Equalux's that were busted out of the box. IDK what's happening over there, but yikes. Not replacing it with another.

had several ART Split-com mic splitters that I used to use with the live recording rig - which I also sold - so didn't really see a use for them anymore. gotta make room for new stuff!

sold my pair of Bart HRK MP568C "colour" preamps. they are cool, but I rarely take time to re-amp anything and I had my eye on something else...

Tascam 234 4-track cassette. It only runs high-speed, and I need to switch between hi and lo.

This week I might offload a Korg PE-1000, a very cool primitive synthesizer.

Re-organizing the studio and rebuilding my racks. It's made me realize what I use and what has become filler.

Parting with -

Art Pro VLA
2 Urei 539 graphic EQs. In my old studio I'd use one each as pre-eq for the plate or pumping sounds into the live room (as a chamber). I no longer have the plate or the live room.
Tascam 122 cassette - used to love it as a tape delay but I haven't used it in ages and ages.

Debating Parting with -

DBX 163 (not the X version)
2 Allison Research Gain Brains. Probably won't but we'll see.
Alesis Micro Limiter. I have 2 which seams like overkill.

Maxon AD-900 Analog Delay pedal - too much clock noise
Marantz PMD720 Portastudio - after much debate and sonic A/B'ing i prefer my Tascam 488mkII
1969 Fender Jazz Bass - back in my touring days i literally toured the world with this. but i've since switched to short scale (and lighter) basses, and this thing just hangs on the wall and i never play it. i'd love to keep it for sentiment, but it's worth too much and i'm broke.

parted with a few mics -- Audix D4's and D3's. D2's still on the chopping block. Sold my broken Sony MDR-7506 headphones on eBay. I was going to buy a broken pair and harvest one of the drivers (one of mine blew) but after getting some new phones, I just didn't miss them... but I figured someone else might needs parts (appears I was right).
