your neighbor lights off a festive M-80 or two in the driveway.
The knucklehead across the street from us lit off two of those yesterday afternoon. We were.....less than amused. We considered dragging a couple amps out to the driveway, aimed at his house, and going all Glenn Branca, but fortunately he stopped at two.

Ooh! Honey, get the lawn chairs. Those interesting music types across the street are putting on a concert! I know right! I hope they play a harmonic series of repetitive alternative guitar tunings and dronings at extremely high volume! That would be awesome!

Almost got in a volume war with the downstairs neighbor a few years ago. Luckily I realized that it would have been the dumbest thing to do.

But still... I work in live sound.

I have access to enough subwoofers to fill a truck.

I have access to a truck.

Also I know how to wire temporary power from an apartment load center to power a truckload of subwoofers.

The 2020 Illinois earthquake which struck at 4:02 am on July 5 measured 6.8 on the Richter scale. Although there were no fatalities, the event caused considerable structural damage to buildings, including the toppling of chimneys and spontaneous booty shaking in Chicago, the region's largest city. It is also the largest ever man-made tectonic event in history. The temblor was caused by roughly 1,727,000 watts of sub-woofing fury unleashed during a squabble between two apartment dwellers incensed with each other over noise volume concerns.

The earthquake was one of the most widely felt in U.S. history, largely affecting 23 states over an area of 580,000 square miles (1,500,000 km2). In studying its cause, scientists discovered the Cottage Grove Fault in the Southern Illinois Basin.

It was good timing in that I did not have to shake my martoonie, altho' the subsequent tornado sirens followed by the po-po driving around bellowing over their P.A. that "Antifa is not thought to be involved at this time" did result in me spitting out a mouthful of precious gin. And a olive.

Shed, I'm sure we've discussed the venerable Mesa Studio Preamp before, but seeing yours in the pix inspired me to fire mine up for the first time in ages, which led to this:

which has since been refined (the milk crate was just too ghetto, I made a nice little rolling stand), and this has led to many hours of strumming. Been having a ball!

Scott, In the photo above, what's that piece under the old radios and what looks to be a Boss pedal collection? And the one to the left of your Boogie pre?

and may I say, that's an awesome space you have! So uncluttered!

______________________________

Not near as sexy as Scott's, but I've been dying to set up a little rig like this one below. WIth all the "clutter" moved to the storage/museum/studio/creativity haven, I now had space in the front room to set up a basic mess-about rig.

I splurged on a new toy, a brand new pod go. set that up with the electrix repeater and a Sony minidisc deck.
Got something going with a zoom RT-123 drum machine with a gtr track and a bassline that needed something more.
That casio through the "Friedman BE-100 dirty channel" was putting a grin on my face.
And yes, that is the Oct/Nov 2018 issue of Tape Op.

I spent many hours with one of those first red kidney bean pods (with this same repeater) back in 1999, which i still have in its box up in the garage rafters. I tried many of the interim models as they came out but til now they always ended up going back. I'm finding this thing sounds really good , and without futzing with it endlessly to get there. Throw in some good bass patches and a wah...

I'm not Scott, but it's a Bellari tube preamp.

Thanks Not-Scott.
For bonus points, what's the box to the left of the mesa pre? A power soak?

I'm not Scott, but I'm a Kommander.
Winky PM Kommander: was listening to The Humorless Draftsman. That drum machine, atmosphere and vocal approach reminds of early Wall of Voodoo. Voice somewhere between Stan Ridgeway and David Sylvian. Cool stuff!

That little Bugera power soak is the key to the whole operation. Best $120 I've spent in forever. So great to be able to play through an amp at conversational volume.

Been playing metal riffs on the Jackson the last couple nights. So much stupid fun.

And thanks for the kind words, much appreciated! Yes, I hate clutter. The back of the room's allowed to get a little messy from time to time, the front stays all business though.

I hearken back to Neil Young: "A man needs a maid."

This man need a maid.

And mine doesn't have to be intimate or even female - just to clean up the recording area, keep it organized.

My spaces (2 rooms, now, not counting guitar racks, plus Zoom R16 set up in living room for C19 project(s)) is clean, but cluttered as f*uck-all.
