Paint, electrical plates, dimmable LED shop light and carpet added.




These cubicle sections will be covered with fabric and mounted somewhat strategically on on the sound room walls. Guitars and basses will be hung from their wood frames.(edit:no they won't)




Moving in the furniture..




VDrumset just put in place, not set up yet.






Tascam 388 might end up on top of this oak cabinet.or not.

Looking for something to elevate monitors. Rack gear will get moved around, racked up somewhat. May put the Tascam 388 (currently stored under a bed in the house) on top of oak counter later. Have a nice chair coming soon. That fold out table is actually quite sturdy and fine for now, but would probably like some Craigslist hardwood desk or maybe some DIY argosy knockoff thing with a synth keyboard drawer down the road. A fold out stand for keys will work for now.




These will have to be moved out from house and wall-mounted in the sound room.

for elevating monitors, I've been using patio blocks - usually the 12 x 12 x 1.5" or so. Then I put a layer of foam shelf liner between the block and the monitor. if I want to go higher I'll stack a couple, or I've also added pieces of 2x4, or other bricks under that so it does not get so heavy. I find that the bricks give it a more solid base (as opposed to the plastic table I see you have, or in my case it was part of studio desk with metal racks on either side). Anyway, I noticed a real difference in the bass response when they are on those patio blocks vs not.

You've got to use a 57 and a Royer 121 lined up just so.

I did my research. That and we happened to have an IKEA take on the classic Persian rug knockoff rolled up in the garage.

Great idea! I had some bricks in the sideyard that were smooth and clean. Wrapped them in some soft material and now they are just the right height.



Today wall mounted three cubicle walls about four inches out from wall with garage rafter hangers mounted horizontally, put in five string swing guitar holders, put up two cable management racks, hung a rug and did a version of Mike's brick monitor stands.

Next up wiring everything up. It got pretty hot in there, my brother and I are researching a ventilation solution for the near future..




The rafter hangers allow the cubicle wall to just kind of float there. You can twist the top hanger to one side and lift the panel off. Which is what I will do as soon as I find some suitable fabric to cover the two gray panels.

Those methods got me close. Real close. Earlier this week down the coast while we were visiting me mum, I stopped by Cheap Thrills Records and Electronics in San Luis Obispo. And my heart skipped a beat when I saw this sitting there. They obviously had no idea what they had here, showing it listed simply as a standard Model 31-1988A.
The sky is the limit now with my feline audio optimization. I can't believe I walked out with a limited edition silver version of the re-purposed DBX 160 chipped lawsuit Neve circuit cloned quasi-Massenberg enhanced Radioshack 9372xj7 Graphic Equalizer with the optional steady-grip lever caps! They even threw in a McIntosh knob they had lying around for the transformer output mod so many people liked to do.

Thanks for your friend's desk plans link Tony. I will keep that around. (Just saw Vlayman's subsequent post. We'll see what happens)

Still working on configuring.

Took the vdrums somewhat apart and got a good setup going. I'd had to cram them in a corner before, now I can spread them out.

Moved the eden 4x10 over by the vdrums to double as a drum monitor. I measured first of course, but I lucked out because by turning that Eden cabinet on its side it fit like a glove in that oak shelving, it slid in with just over an inch to spare.





The big opening in the black IKEA shelving had potential. I somehow wanted to use it for keyboards and for a looper with pedals station.I've decided I'm going to make a cabinet of extending shelves like these.


I'll have to put in a wood square frame as that particle board doesn't take screws well. With several sliding shelves i can have a couple keyboard accessible as well as a hands on pedals-and-looper setup at the ready.
As you can see I have some amazing keyboards. A big ass plasticky Casio, and a Roland from when floppy discs were cutting edge storage. I've just run them through stuff to get the new and interesting. The Casio actually has some great sounds, but that keybed is not too inspiring.



I did spring for a Stylophone Gen R8 awhile back that I haven't yet had a good sit down with.




and lastly, wanted to make sure my (self-assembled!) Hamptone JFET made it to the party, so I swapped it out for the bricks under the left monitor.
