Well, it finally got to us. Five folks in our 12 person office out with covid.
Drums.. hmm. ..........
Got covid on the road to pick up our son from college. Became symptomatic on the way home, gave it to the kid, and now we're all almost better. The new variant is very hard to escape.
The best thing for me drums-wise has been the Oberheim Drummer. Preset patterns with a lot of internal variability (that "human feel" thing that was sort of a big deal 3 decades ago) plus a lot of options for varying the presets themselves. It's probably not worth the prices you see for them these days, but I got a good deal on one & really enjoy it. As an added bonus, any of the "Perf/x" units can be configured as any of the others with a simple EPROM swap.
Good luck with the music making--sounds fun!

I read a tweet (don't ask) where some woman said not having had covid is like the new virginity.
Mebbe there's a song there ...

I could swear I caught it working a pro wrestling show three weeks ago, but even the PCR test came back negative.
Strange times we live in. Feels like most people I know have taken on one of those society-wide decisions to do something differently than what they were doing previously. Definitely we're in one of those history-book periods.

It was the most fun gig I'd had in years, actually. Generally I've ended up doing higher-end things where people are never going to be happy somehow.
What do you mean by "fake", though? Ever sat down and thought about how "real" college football actually is?
Anyways, the important thing is that my fans were there for me.
