New Recording Studio/Music Business Documentary with some amazing engineers and musicians!

Post by glitchfactor » Fri Jul 03, 2020 6:03 pm

Hey everyone!

So if you like documentaries about studios and the music business my film Recording In Progress is finally available to pre-order after many years of hard work, travel, and interviews in some of the best studios like Blackbird, NRG, Sam Phillips, etc. There are some really great people in it including Steve Lily-white (U2, Peter Gabriel, 30 Seconds to Mars), Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies), Richard Fortus of Guns ’N Roses, Steven Slate, Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton) and many more!
You can check out the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiYxxMd06UI

and visit the iTunes store for Pre-Orders https://apple.co/3hJSrL8

As an audio engineer I really wanted to tell the story of recording studios and their place in the age of streaming and home recording with perspectives of studio owners, engineers, studio musicians, and independent musicians. Anyway, I really hope you guys check it out and enjoy the film if you like what you see. I put 5 years of hard work in this and so excited to finally see it reaching all major streaming platforms this month.

Thanks all!

Justin Fisher

Thanks Tony! Bummer we didn't get to hang out this year with the AES summit being canceled. :-(

Yeah, it was a drag not hanging out.

I quite enjoyed it, and was glad to see some of my buddies in it. I'm even in one still.

Great work, Justin!

Bumping this because it's now free to watch if you're an Amazon subscriber, this doc is now free to watch. Worth checking out.

Justin did a great job on this. If you pay close attention, there's a picture of me in it...

yes, nice job on the film. It was interesting and I can only imagine how this all looks post-pandemic. I know for me it's been a mixed year. In-person recording ground to a halt and everything was put on hold (except for one project that we completed mixing while wearing masks). But remote recording projects increased for me this year (and my studio was always available...). And a few projects that I did by myself that I otherwise might not have had time for...

Also, just wanted to mention that the film does a good job of including a diverse population in both recording and the music scenes it studies, even though historically, it's probably been more exclusive... But I believe that is important for the future of music and recording, so glad to see it.

btw, if you are interested in something of a similar topic, try "Nothing Stays the Same" -- https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9617758/
while it is focused on one club in Austin, TX, you could probably insert the name of a club in your town and it would be a similar story. it's also on Amazon Prime right now.
