Do you know anyone that racks modules?

Post by drewbass » Sat Feb 06, 2021 8:01 pm

Hi,I'm not sure exactly where to post this.
I just bought two more Melcor GME 20s.
I have a rack of 8 at the moment, I need these two in a separate 1ru rack.
I need referrals or links to threads that I could not find for people that do this work and are trusted, repeatedly, in the LA or socal area.
They will also need a bipolar ps, +/- 15v
Thank you in advance.

This should be fine for power supply if you're cool with external (from what I can find online, this is the same thing Dangerous Music uses for some of their pieces): https://www.ebay.com/itm/XP-POWER-AEH45 ... Sw1y5gCDcz

Doesn't seem like it'd be a hard rack job, but I don't have anyone to recommend to you.

Thank you WD, that's a great start. I've soldered for years and my skills still suck. but, the ps cuts down on the cost.

You might see if you can track down the specs on that supply. Some of the +15/-15/+5 supplies don't properly regulate the 15's until there's a decent load on the 5V rail.

I can recommend the Meanwell PD-2515 as a bipolar 15 supply that's pretty decent - though it's a naked circuit board, and you'll need to enclose it somehow, but it's short enough to fit in a 1U rack. Moog use members of the family in some of their synths, and I've spotted similar in Apogee interfaces.

I've got 3 GME-20's that have been slated for an eventual racking project myself. The trickiest will be finding mating connectors, if you want to keep them original.

Or you could maybe convert them to 500 format?

There's also an old thread with a handful of details.
