Got my antique PL20 back from BOSCH/EV today and put it up for a vocal take.
Definitely clearer and a touch brighter. In the pre-repair vocal take I sounded a bit like I had a cold. The low end (of my tenor voice) had a very different character.
They gutted the mic, replaced the capsule and the electronics. All the screws. The plate at the low cut switch looks shiny, which is weird with the patina the body has.
So I guess I need to try it on bass, guitar or kick drum soon.
It definitely sounds different.
Just reporting back!

Re: ADVICE: send in my re20 or fix myself?
Thanks, I was curious.
This speaks well for EV- it's worth having any re20 around because for a couple hundred it can perform like a new one.
