The Billy Preston jams in the second episode are pure gold.

the film production team did a really fantastic job on the color restoration and that really is a lot of U67s!
Boy did they start off with a bunch of dynamics though, EV and Shure stuff. Lennon even gripes about needing some of those bloody big Neumanns around.

The whole Magic Alex debacle (mostly off screen in my viewing so far) is good story telling. I'm a pretty big Geoff Emerick fan so there's some schadenfreude at work.

Pretty sure the EV's are actually AKG D19's. Even when they're using dynamics it's still a ton of expensive mics (or what would become expensive mics).

Oh, you're totally right: D19. I think the D19 is expensive only because of the Beatles association. It's pretty much the vintage EV phenomenon magnified by even more hype. I'm sure it's a perfectly handy mic, but if I walked into a place and over half of the instruments and all of the vocals were mic'd up with RE11s I'd say, "This is pretty weird. I think we'll be alright, but it's weird." Something that spartan with the world's biggest pop band is delightfully strange to me.

Just watched the third episode this evening. The Stylaphone had me cracking up.

It's a pretty great mic for what it is (if you can find a working one). Much like the RE15. It's kind of useable and good on a ton of sources and punches above it's weight. That said, it was the sm57 of Europe at the time. That's why it's on everything for the rehearsals.

Just finished Part 2 and I'm loving it so far. Watching them working out parts is fascinating. It really feels like being in the same room as them. Even though I know how it ends, I still think I'll be sad when it's over. Wish we could get a similarly in-depth look at the making of Revolver, Pepper, etc.

Also, and perhaps slightly OT, but there’s a great podcast called One Sweet Dream which challenges a lot of the commonly circulated Beatles lore. Definitely worth checking out if you are a fan.

Know what you mean, but part of the magic is letting imagination wander.

It's amazing how the people in the street below the rooftop seem like 100 years ago rather than 50.

I'm a few episodes into One Sweet Dream. They're bright. It's entertaining. I'll continue to listen to a few more and see what happens. They adore Macca. I'll leave it at that.

Once they move to Apple, what are the lollipop looking mics they have for vocals?

Do you mean the AKG C28/C30 (on the long stalk?) or maybe the ones they had pointing at the ceiling (I assume to avoid feedback from the PA)? this site https://www.guitarandbeyond.com/beatles-microphones/ says they are the Neumann KM56 with a KM54 windscreen. if so, maybe they were in Omni and that's why they were pointing up (didn't matter)
