Either it can't happen or I am doing something wrong.
Trying to bounce tracks 2 & 4 onto track 3.
Effects send and return hooked up to working reverb.
I believe all related controls are adjusted appropriately.
Getting everything but the reverb.
Would appreciate any help.

I can now get a very faint reverb. When I increase any associated level on the 424 all it does is distort.
Levels on the reverb are appropriately set.

you need to set the pan of the effect return if there is one to go to whichever side (R or L) is track 3. if there is no pan for effects return, then you need to find out if the return is mono (which side does it go, L or R, then make sure track 3 is set to record that side) or if stereo that the channel its going to L or R is the right one for the track 3.

Re: 424 Mk I bouncing w/ effects
Unfortunately I’m not near a computer, so I can’t look this up in more detail…
But in my experience using and working on 4-track cassette machines, the Effect Return is not routed in such a way that it can be recorded via internal bouncing. The Effect Return will be audible via the Stereo outputs for the full mix, but not available to internally armed tracks.
Your best approach would be to route Tracks 1 & 2 to the Effect Send, then connect the output of your effect chain to channel 4. Set Tracks 1 & 2 to Tape mode and Track 4 to Mic/Line, then press Play and bounce the results to Track 3.
