So a friend of mine asked me to do some minor repairs on some old pedals, including an old Boss OD-1 Overdrive that was missing its "stomp spring," for lack of a better term. I looked on ebay & saw one available for $19.50, which seems ridiculous. I tried a couple of springs I had lying around, but no joy.
So I ended up cutting a small chunk off a swimming pool noodle & wedging it in the spot where the spring goes. It took me a couple of tries to get the height right for the feel that I wanted, but now I've got something that works well and feels good under the foot. It may not last forever, but you could probably make 50 out of a $5 pool noodle. At the very least, it's an excellent temporary fix until you get around to buying a $20 spring!

Thanks for the pointer, Dave! I'll pick one up next time I order from Small Bear--unless my friend likes the pool noodle fix better.dave watkins wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 1:51 pmSmall Bear has springs that may work for waaay cheaper:

There is probably a way to use the sponginess of a pool noodle in a DIY reverb tank.
