Overhead stand hardware (4038)
I'm looking for hardware I've seen in people's studio shots that would allow a Coles 4038 capsule to be positioned perpendicular to the floor i.e. straight down. I can get close with some high right angles on my stands but working way harder than some nice setups I've seen with the pair extending downward from the stands- more flexibility for angles.
I've puttered around the net and I'm thinking what I'm looking for isn't specifically Coles.

That might be perfect.
I'll see if I can find a picture.

there are other variations on that like -- https://smile.amazon.com/Gator-Framewor ... B07MJM25TC
otherwise, these are a bit pricey now (about 2x compared to when I bought mine 10 years ago) but they are pretty nice for positioning overhead mics on drums. I use a pair of these with a pair of AKG 414b-ULS (or whatever else I try).... the mini-boom off the main boom is about 6" long.

Re: Overhead stand hardware (4038)
EDIT: unfortunately they seem to be out of these - I tried to order another one today and they replied that all they had left were defective and then cancelled/refunded my order... oh well.
I have one of thee too - and I was looking for a second and finally found them on Walmart.com of all places (got the last one through Amazon several years ago). I think I heard about these here on this board. They are pretty cool.

I got one of these. Could do better for sure, but it helps.

That Walmart one looks pretty usable. Get a die and put threads on the other end, and you'd really have something even better.
I've got a couple variants of the Gator/OnStage add on arms. I've also got a couple of the cheapo stereo t-baradapters...between them and a couple C stands, I can fly stereo mics pretty solidly.
Latch Lake make a really fancy version of an add on arm, called the Xtraboom,
And the clamp of the Latch Lake looks like a lightweight version of what film lighting folks call a "double grip head." Good ones are nearly indestructible, and pop up on ebay regularly.

I have 6 or 8 of these around the studio. They are super helpful to have around.digitaldrummer wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 6:29 pmwhat about something like this on an existing stand?

Here’s another variation without the arm/extension:

I’ve got one that seems to work well.
