Chess Records - South Cottage Grove Ave. studio

Post by KermitPickle » Sat Oct 29, 2022 12:39 pm

Wonder if anyone here has seen session pics from the first Chess Records studio? I gather they moved to 2120 S Michigan Ave in 1957, but I've been listening to this a bunch and it's from '54, so I guess it was recorded at the S. Cottage Grove studio and I can't find a lot of info about it:

(I forget -- can we embed yt videos here?)

Mostly curious to see how the room was laid out, how things were miked, all that fun stuff.

Thanks!

No idea about the original question but this is a fun read of you're into Chess and that era of recording.

The class notes used to be out there on the web but I can't seem to find them today.
