Thanks everybody. I've got a jam man on hold at the local used shop. It was a cheap enough solution that it seemed low risk.

Jamman for the win. My partner and I had a rehearsal yesterday using the jamman and it worked quite well.
I've got parts on order to make an expansion pedal for it so we can swap patches on the fly but even as is it's working.
