Yo TOMB !

my pal is looking for a real minimal digital type setup

two channel interface

two mic pres

two DI (maybe with overdrive like my teac does?? - tho can't see that happening on new stuff)

two PEQ

---------------

then two mics

for use primarily with his electric guitar with amp

help us brainstorm a system that's cheap as possible- :high: it'll be fun

The lil' Focusrites are great for the budget. Around here, every pawn shop has one.
And the lil' UADs are better, but at a steeper budget.

Add a SM57. Or an MD609.

And some other mic (could be almost anything) for contrast. MXL ribbon?

Are DS-1's still $40?

What's a PEQ? Passive EQs don't seem to be an entry-level kinda thing.

Don't forget some decent headphones. K240's are on Xmas sale for $50.

did you mean parametric EQ maybe? Plugins are good for that unless you want to pay $$

I thought I'd post this - these seems like a pretty good starter kit for a good price
this is a used one (and I found out "Jeff's Gear" comes directly from Sweetwater's shipping dept... )
https://www.sweetwater.com/used/listing ... ing-bundle

or here is a new one:
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... ook-bundle

but they have lots of different bundles that upgrade or add various components too.

but what DAW software and what kind of computer will they use - sometimes that makes a huge difference (like if you say they only have an old laptop running Windows XP...)
