Roland SH-101 + MoogerFooger MF-102 peda

Hi,

Does anyone know any fancier ways I can connect these two gizmos beyond serial audio hookup?

I'm looking for a clock source for my SH-101 sequencer so I can have a fast part over a slow oscillator. I'm kindof assuming that's what it does. Can the MF-102 provide clock somehow? If not, is there a cheep clock knob I can buy for the SH101? I just had it serviced and it's sounding really cool I just want to get as crazy as possible with it and explore synthesis more deeply.

I feel like I would try the rate output on the mf101.

The clock in is really designed to take a drum machine out or a pulse signal. You can get something like an ehx 8 step but you could instead probably just get a cheap drum machine (like the behringers, I’ve seen these second hand quite cheap), or just create a clock track in your daw.

Check to see if you have a "DC coupled" output on your converter. Those allow for CV voltages to be output directly. Motu has some.

Also, the CV In / Gate are very common synthesizer control voltages, -5 to +5 Volts. If you have a synth, see if it has those types of ins and outs.

This was cool and useful, but "Carrier Out" was cooler. LFO out is half of what the mooger fooger is doing, carrier is the whole thing, basically, as I understand it. Neither did the trick I was trying to figure out which is getting the sequencer to run at a different speed than the LFO of the SH101, but the LFO out basically replaces (or adds?) the LFO of the mooger fooger to the SH101, so you can have a slow LFO going with a fast sequence. It was all much more cool and intricate sounding than I expected it to be.

That "Rate" hole on the MF102 is for an expression pedal, not an output, I'm 99% sure. A whole other coolness to be had.

I have an SR-16 drum machine, but it doesn't have a clock out. Do you just send like quarter notes of clave as hot audio or something?

Yes you should just be able to send out 1/16 notes of a Tom or something to make something happen,
