I've dabbled with Saturn2, but tended to get overwhelmed by the options...I need to put some more time into this.

I tend to prefer simple and effective plugins, apparently.
Yeah, I actually demoed Saturn a while back and didn’t buy it. I thought it was too complicated and I ended up going with the UAD culture vulture since I had a coupon. But I bought another fabfilter plugin and tried Saturn again and it clicked. I think after I had been experimenting with other saturation plugins the multiband option made more sense.

I like really simple plugins too. It’s why I stayed away from Fabfilter for so long honestly.
I love my Sonnex Oxford EQ. I've been using it for nearly 15 years. So, I've not jumped on the Fab Filter Pro-Q 3 bandwagon. It seems its become the "industry standard" though.

Pro 3 is awesome, I have to say. It can be a really simple clean EQ, or you can split the bands to do mid side, have a dynamic eq for a particular freq that’s annoying, etc. It’s actually a very simple to use but insanely deep plugin.

I’ve always wanted to use Protools. Back in the day I used Cubase on PCs and had unlimited inputs and tracks, so I couldn’t see switching. Since I’m all word of mouth, it’s never been a problem. I’m Mac and use Logic now and I do love it, but I really want to try ProTools just to see. PT is all subscription now right?

you can certainly do it that way (but if you stop then so does Pro Tools) but I think they still sell perpetual licenses still too, and they changed the reinstatement cost structure (although if you never had it then that doesn't matter). I have a perpetual license for what is now "studio" edition.

Thanks, good to know. I looked at the pricing structure a while back and was thoroughly confused.

I think experimenting with different plugins like the Culture Vulture and Saturn has clearly expanded your sonic palette
