I did write really small on my bay, but I have a printout made from this as another quick reference. I'm been meanign to pickup some sharpies and color code the labels on the bay to differentiate different devices.

Do it in a spreadsheet, cut up the printout with scissors.

I do the spreadcheet as well. I have a layout in Excel that I've tweaked so it's the right size for our bays (trial and error).

I print it out and cut the strips with a straight-edge and razor, and I attach with rubber cement.

I color code things are well.... echos over there, compressors over there...

I use Excel. It took a lot of trial and error and tweaking to get the cell size just right for the jack spacing on our patchbays. The bantam bays were especially tedious. But now I have them saved as blank templates which I can use anytime.

Dymo Letra Tag labelmaker. http://www.dymo.com List $44.95 I think. Font size is adjustable. I've also used it for labeling KVM switches for servers and PCs.

Forgot to mention that after I make the label, I cut it down smaller to macth the smaller font and fit on the patchbay better. Looks really professional this way.
