As others have stated, the Schoeps are the real deal.
If you do find yourself interested in something like the Schoeps, check out MBHO. Used a pair of those once for a jazz trio and they sounded a hell of a lot like my Schoeps. Kind of made me sad cause they cost a little less than half as much. This might be your ticket: MBHO.
You know - I've been wondering about those (MBHO's), but have never heard them. What would you say their sonic characteristics are compared to the Schoeps? I'm actually looking to pick up another pair of small diaphragm condensers, but can't really afford another pair of Schoeps and really, I don't need them to be 'quite' that good.
Anyone know of a dealer for MBHO with good prices?

There is an MBHO thread going on in this forum.
Oh, I misremembered the price. They aren't much cheaper than the Schoeps.

C1000S's are nice. Cheapest I've seen are two for $225.00 on EBAY at a "BUT IT NOW" price. They are $199 brand new. So there is about a 50% difference.

For a large diaphragm on the cheap you can't beat the ADK A-51 they are $199. I've got one and I wouldn't mind having another. I use it for a mono overhead all of the time.
