Don't you know it! I called my 19 year old daughter in and she told me in no uncertain terms that the newer Avril song was sped up to mach "Complicated". I'll take her word for it. sound odd to you. It makes you think and challenges you mentally.
It's the difference in reading an intelligently put together book and
a magazine article in people. One is artistic, thoughtful, writing the other is Lowest Common Denominator reporting.
