Re: What did you work on last Saturday?
Sorry I've slacked on my duties of asking...
Anyway, this past Saturday I was a percussion coach and counsellor at the annual Summer camp of the Charlotte Symphony's Youth Orchestra. Saturday was day four. They had it at Converse College in Spartanburg, which is about an hour and a half away from Charlotte. I avoided the on-campus food as amich as possible by supporting the local Wendy's and Chick-Fil-A. There were three percussionists, two of which were new to the orchestra. Overall, good kids. No problems. Met a really nice up-and-coming upright bass payer who really wants to get into studying jazz. The program for the concert on Sunday included Beethoven's "Egmont Overture," Bizet's "Carmen Suite No. 1," "A Night On Bald Mountain," a percussion ensemble piece by Alyn Hiem, John Williams' "Olympic Fanfare," and Gliere's "Russian Sailor's Dance." I played bass drum, cymbals, timpani, triangle, and snare drum. I also heard Moxie Fruvous for the first time. Man, are they cool.

Re: What did you work on last Saturday?
last saturday I dealt with the compost, swept, got baked, recorded an eight track song with a one hour time limit, went to a cocktail party, then out to the alibi to see the scurvy dogs, and a judas priest tribute band called sad wings of destiny. whew...

Re: What did you work on last Saturday?
recorded a local d-town punk/metal band that despite not being my cup of tea, were actually pretty good. i guess they're on a lumberjack-distributed indie label right now and are using these songs to shop around to some bigger labels.
...oh yeah, used my new aardsync for the first time on this session. rules.

I finished up a mix for a singer-songwriter from Madison. I uploaded the mix and then when to a birthday party for a friend's son. Hung out at home with the wif in the evening.

Set up a used computer that I just bought.
Marveled at how remarkably affordable slightly out-of-date computers, upgrades and peripherals are these days, and how much crap you can still do on them.
Mixing session turned into a little impromptu mixing party, so recorded group shouts for one of the songs. Hugely improved the vibe of the song.
I guess the main thing I worked on was learning how to maintain agility and focus in such a party atmosphere, especially after mentally preparing for a relaxed evening of mouse clicking (and really wanting to join in on the partying, too)... adding yet one more thing to the list of "Things I didn't think about before getting into recording". Too late now, I'm hooked.
The more I learn, the less I know...

Re: What did you work on last Saturday?
My band played last on a six-band bill to nearly a dozen people. We loaded in at 6:30 and went on at 12:30. We did the same thing the night before and the night after. I don't know about my chops, but my ability to move gear from truck to stage and back again is in top form. Oh, and I drank too.
You don't know me.
